September 2024 I am so glad to leave the August heat behind us!! We even had to cancel swim practice for an entire week due to the temperatures within the pool enclosure! Oh, well…onward! Swim season is in the final weeks before our area meet on September 14. We have 27 athletes entered in relays and individual events. Practices have been 2 days per week for lane swimmers and one day a week for developmental swimmers. (Read More...) JENNY’S JOTS
August 2024 July has been a fun month! We started swim team practices. As our number of athletes increases, we are outgrowing some of our facilities. Therefore, we are adding more practice days or trying to find creative ways to accommodate all ability levels and continue to have effective and meaningful practices. This year, we have lane swimmers practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays (as before), but have added an additional day (Wednesdays), just devoted to developmental swimmers. (Read More...) JENNY’S JOTS
July 2024 …and we’re off! July brings the beginning of swim season—a very popular Boerne Blaze sport! A few of our athletes were asked to participate in a pilot aquathon in Austin on July 14. This competition is specifically for distance swimmers, as it is a 400 meter swim and a ¼ or ½ mile run. Each of our athletes has a unified partner doing this competition with them. Fun! Thank you all for your wishes and prayers. The Boerne 100 group hears from 3 charities and each member votes for one. We came up one vote short to Aid the Silent of getting the $10,000. The other two get $1,000 each so that was good for BBSO. So close, but still good news. But it gets better. (Read More...) Jenny's Jots

Athletes are having great fun and improving their skills. I have been asked numerous times “When do we get back to a sport? I miss it!” For now, the coaches are taking a well-deserved break and then we will hit it strong starting next month!! July marks the beginning of our swim season…going all the way through mid-September for the area tournament and early October for the state meet. (Read More...) Jenny's Jots
