Welcome to Boerne Blaze Special Olympics
We are the Boerne-based delegation in Area 20 of Special Olympics Texas and support more than 85 athletes with intellectual disabilities ages 6 and up in 10 Olympic-style sports throughout the year under the direction of almost 20 coaches.
We are a 100% volunteer-run organization and rely on the generosity of Boerne ISD, City of Boerne Parks and Recreation, Boerne Turnverein, and the Benedictine Sisters of Boerne for our practice venues.
We thrive through the support of our athlete families, dozens of community volunteers, and organizations such as Young Men’s Service League and National Charity League. Boerne Blaze also enjoys the support of Boerne Police Department, Boerne Fire Department, Boerne City Council, Kendall County Commission, and Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.
Boerne Blaze Special Olympics was honored as the 2025 Nonprofit of the Year by the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce at their annual awards gala.
Mission Statement
To provide our athletes a safe and supportive environment to enhance their physical and social skills through sports training and events, and to expand awareness and acceptance within the local community.
