Jenny's Jots September 2023 I feel like we are in a whirlwind of Boerne Blaze activities!!! I hope most of our athletes are participating in at least one of our offerings at this time. Swimming is soon to culminate in our area swim meet on Sept. 16. After that, several of our swimmers will continue practice to compete at the state level at Texas A&M in the SOTX Fall Classic Oct. 20-21. Swimmers have worked hard since the beginning of July. Bowling has just begun on Mondays. We are growing in number in the Boerne Blaze so both swimming and bowling venues are at capacity. This year, the bowlers have been divided into 2 groups and each group has an hour on Monday to bowl. They are having fun! ... (Read More) Special Olympics has a special arrangement with Chicken N Pickle restaurants throughout the country. We are invited to use their pickleball courts and equipment (free of charge) on Wednesdays from noon to 1:00pm through October. I know this time does not work well for students, but we have five athletes and several coaches who are taking advantage of this to learn the game of pickleball. There will be a tournament at the end of October. It is super fun! The same kind of arrangement has been made with Top Golf facilities throughout the country, although the timing is up to individual delegations. Boerne Blaze chose to hold practices on Wednesdays 5:00-7:00pm (through Sept). We also have 7 athletes taking advantage of this opportunity as well!!! Plus, new parent coaches and others! Area 20 is working on a unified tournament for the end of September. Be watching for indoor triathlon practices to begin in October! Also, Jericho Ministry for adults with disabilities is starting its new season on Sept. 11. We have several outside leaders planned to share this fall. Cool stuff! Bingo continues every 4th Thursday evening. And mark your calendars to go eat and enjoy the Blacksmith Grill on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 11:00-3:00. This happens every 1st Wednesday of the month. Don’t forget to say you support Boerne Blaze. We will receive 10% of your total bill. BBSO + Blacksmith Grill support each other!!! Several new athletes are joining our delegation this fall. If you see someone you don’t yet know, please introduce yourself and welcome them to our Boerne Blaze family!! Laugh, love, and keep moving!! Jenny Cashion Head of Delegation Boerne Blaze
