Way to Go, Boerne Blaze! The Boerne Blaze Special Olympics Delegation took a four-woman team to Reno, Nevada, to compete in the National Unified Bowling Tournament Feb. 28-March 2. Athletes Carley Fisk and Kristal Leos teamed up with unified partners JP Posey and Hayley Fisk. Bowling as a four-person team, they came home with silver medals. Carley and JP paired up to get 1st place in their doubles division. Doubles team Kristal and Hayley also earned a gold medal in their division. Head coach for the BBSO bowling team is Angela Fisk. BBSO was originally slated to participate in the tournament in 2020, but it was canceled due to the pandemic. Although the results were impressive, the experience of participating in the athlete parade opening ceremonies; competing in a national tournament; meeting teams from other states as far away as Alabama, Indiana, Wyoming, and Florida; and making new friends was truly something to remember and celebrate!
