September 2026
The water in the Omega Center pool for our swim practices has been a wonderful reprieve from the Texas heat this summer! Both Lane swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Developmental swimming on Wednesdays has been going very well. 2 weeks to go until the Special Olympics Regional Swim Meet on September 12. Following that, a few of our advanced swimmers will continue practicing to compete in the Special Olympics State Fall Classic in October. More on that in the October Jots. We thank the MANY dedicated volunteers we have had to allow this sport to go as smoothly as possible.
Pickleball is underway on Mondays. There is a large group of athletes learning the beginning skills of this sport…and a few more advanced! Everyone enjoys!
The sport of bowling has begun as well! Advanced bowlers practice on Saturdays and Ramp and more beginner bowlers will start on Wednesdays.
The Boerne community is so generous and supportive of all non-profits here and Boerne Blaze certainly benefits from this support:
St. Mark Presbyterian Church held their Vacation Bible School this past June. As in many years prior, they also offer a place for those with special needs….even for adults. This year their mission project was to create Swag Bags for every Boerne Blaze athlete! Those bags are being dispersed now at Blaze practices.
On August 16, St. John’s Lutheran Church’s Wild Game Dinner presented checks to local non-profits in varying amounts. Established in 2001, this was their 25th anniversary of this event and will be their last, as the leaders are stepping down after their dedicated and energetic service. Boerne Blaze was one of the recipients!
As we embark on the fall, I hope we get some relief from the heat! So….stay cool, be happy, smile often…..and keep moving!
