2025 in Review

2025 was a challenging year for Boerne Blaze Special Olympics:

I was out of state due to a family tragedy and was unable to fulfill my duties as Head of Delegation. Thankfully, Coach Mark Olson served as interim HoD in my absence. He did a wonderful job keeping things going and was able to pick up the slack in many areas. Other coaches stepped up as well.

We lost 2 of our head coaches for different reasons. But BBSO persevered. Again, thank you Mark! Since we were unable to use our usual swimming facility, it was arranged to utilize one in northern Bexar County but had an abbreviated swim team.

Because of the loss of the head coach (Jenny) and the pool, the sport of indoor triathlon was cancelled for the year. An injury of the leader of the Christmas float caused that to be cancelled as well.

The person who had complete control and ran our website was suddenly and unexpectedly unable to continue. Therefore, we lost our website for the year…and are now getting a new one created so welcome!

All through the year 2025, Boerne Blaze families supported each other and kept our programs going as best they could. We added athletes. We practiced. We went to competitions. Our athletes continued to work hard and to grow in their skills and confidence.

We may have challenges, but we will be happy, keep smiling, and keep moving!
