Jenny Cashion Head of Delegation Indoor Triathlon Head Coach In 2004, as a parent of a 10 year old boy with Down syndrome, I began looking for specific sport opportunities for him with people who understand people who have different learning styles and abilities. My career was also as a pediatric physical therapist, focusing on motor skills of children with special needs. Special Olympics has merged those 2 parts of my life together. I am the head coach for indoor triathlon, but also a certified coach in swimming, basketball, cycling, kayaking, and unified sports. In 2007, I became Head of Delegation for our local program, Boerne Special Olympics. We changed our name, logo, and colors in December 2017 to Boerne Blaze and have so much to offer!!! We are a family of people who live with and/or care deeply for people with special needs. Our program focuses primarily on sports, which facilitates so many things: endurance, fitness, motor development and skills, coordination, game knowledge, sportsmanship, and much more. But it also offers a place to belong (athletes, families, and volunteers alike), support with others in similar situations, a liaison to various community opportunities for our special population, and affirmation to all that our athletes are valuable, worthy individuals with many unique gifts.
