Having coached at a very high level and after having competed in sports for 50+ years, where “The Win” was of major importance, I have grown and learned with the help of Special Olympics and Boerne Blaze, that…. “It’s about the journey vs. the destination”! I still desire to coach because of my passion for sports, and don’t get me wrong, I still love to win, but it’s much more than that! I strive to create a positive learning environment that is built with integrity, grace and respect for our unique individuals. I want to foster growth in my athletes to be the best they can be both during, and away from the sport. I want them to have fun, enjoy the experience, and improve their social interactions. In addition to improving their health and learning physical skills, I want the athletes to learn about sportsmanship, leadership, discipline and being a team player. I believe playing sports increases confidence and self-esteem and gives athletes a sense of accomplishment.
